Title: Who's your favorite Wu character of all-time?

LittleDragonZ - August 3, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
Sun Quan without a doubt. Having being pretty basic looking move-wise at first and being very similar to his father, I couldn't help but love his design, his personality, and his head-wear. However, that changed in DW4, I didn't like his costume much, though at least his voice became incredible. Then came DW5, and that rekindled my love for his outfit and overall appearance (though looking less like a wolf than in 3.) And lastly, we can't forget the biggest change of all which is his change in age making him much younger and actually looking somewhat younger than his older brother.

What about you?

fledgling phoenix - August 3, 2008 07:04 PM (GMT)
Sun Ce

I always like his weapon, and he can deal some powerful blows with them (tho his musou from DW4 got nerfed a bit :( )

What i also like about him is that while he's informal and brash, he's a genius when it comes to fighting. He knows what he's doing in the battles where he's featured.

foomin - August 3, 2008 07:04 PM (GMT)
i picked Xiao Qiao(everyone knew i'd pick a girl). i know...i know...not central to the story, annoying voice, silly weapons...whatever. she's fun to use and always has been. if it satisfies anyone, if i had to pick a male it'd be Zhou Tai.

anyhow. Xiao has always been my pick of the sisters. she's more adventurous and brave, her moveset is better, her Musou(while difficult to control at first) delivers an insane amount of damage when you get it sorted out. she combos easily and i just plain enjoy her. she's even better in WO. there's nothing quite so fun as killing Lu Bu with a tiny girl wielding a pair of fans. the Qiao stories are dross, but that's only because KOEI has not put any effort into making stories up for them.

Sun Wukong - August 3, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
mine would have to be Sun Ce i love him in DW but not in DW6 i hate him in it so they better change him back to his tofas i love his moveset!

Jasonic - August 3, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
Zhou Tai FTW B)

He is always just so cool and humble. Had an awesome katana moveset in the past games. I like is cool scar and he always has a design. I personally prefered his DW5 design, although most did not.

Mitsurugi_Hitsen - August 3, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
I gave a toss to Zhou Yu. Just like Shu and Zhuge Liang, I just have to give respect to the one who organizes and runs the battles.

In game play terms, he may not be the strongest, but I really enjoy how he fights and he has some very cool moves.

Spiral - August 3, 2008 08:05 PM (GMT)
I pick Xiao Qiao!
I grown to adore her. I wanna give her a big hug!
In my opinion she the most fun to use than Da Qiao. Nothing against Da, she awesome too but I just prefer Xiao. And her musou isnt a problem for me I can control actually. ^^
Also I love the C4 attack. Here comes trouble! X3
Even though her voice is annoying.
It's so much better in english.
High pitch one in japanese make me wanna struggle something..

And Sun Ce would be my other choose..
My tonfa loving spunky dude!

Soray>< - August 3, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
Gan Ning , Just can't stop having Fun with his Musou attacks.

Rydain - August 3, 2008 08:37 PM (GMT)
Lu Meng. Not always my favorite to play as, but he was historically great and his characterization is made of win. He's my #2 most favorite character ever, second only to Cao Ren.

I loved what I saw of Meng's personality in DW6. He's mature, thoughtful, and prudent, yet not without sass, as he smacks Gan Ning upside the head for calling him "old man". Historically, Lu Meng improved himself by learning about strategy to become a skilled all-around commander. I haven't delved into his history and game characterization deeply enough to see how well they match up, but it all seems plausibly coherent to me.

Lu Meng's costumes may not have been very unique until DW6, but his face has always been. Meng consistently seems adult and knowledgeable, with some degree of ruggedness. (And he's handsome. :P) His DW6 costume is utterly fantastic. It has elements of academic robes and the garb of a traveler, reflecting the journey that Meng took to become such a talented strategist and leader.

Fayt - August 3, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
Lu Meng for me, I've found him to be one of the more fascinating characters of the army, and while he may not be the best spear user in DW5 - he is still a very good one.

Hopefully he will remain my #1 Wu guy when I get my hands on DW6...

zacattack214 - August 4, 2008 12:43 AM (GMT)
Normally I would say SSX, however, I was extrmemely displeased with her change of weapon in DW6 so I shall go with Zhou Yu becuase Zhou Tai has enough votes already. <_<

Skode - August 4, 2008 05:45 AM (GMT)
I guess Zhou Tai - i like liked his style and moveset a lot. He did his talking on the battlefield but he still showed maturity sadly lacking in a lot of the playable Wu characters in the series

Rultzbud - August 4, 2008 06:08 AM (GMT)
Sun Ce or Lu Meng..

Sun Ce = I always liked him. His story, weapons, personality, everything. He holds a dear value to me too, in DW4, I was playing on hard, though the Wu story, and I was Ce, at the Naman Rebellion (or whatever it was called) Meng Huo's army, killed all of Wu off, but me.. So it was literally 1 man VS 1000.. (and yes, I did win.)

Lu Meng = Basicly what Rydain had said. His story, background and personality.

So I gave my vote Ce just because of that 1 Battle that we had.

tennoarashi - August 4, 2008 06:14 AM (GMT)
How am I the only person who's voted for Lu Xun so far?!
It's Lu Xun! Everyone's favourite pyromaniac!

As for why I like Lu Xun....
I adore Lu Xun because people tend to expect things from him - and he generally delivers; but not in ways they expect OR do they often reference the other facets of his personality.

Lu Xun is a sweet, intelligent and open-minded young man. He's also a ruthless, get-the-job-done military tactician. He manages to do it in such a way that he seems (to most) either young and innefectual and unassuming or as young and full of potential. He is youth; and being that young - others tend to throw alot of the 'potential' speechery at him.... but no one (besides Lu Meng) has bothered to see if he's even tapped into that potential in other ways.

I like him so very much. He's the kind of person who knows what he's doing; understands the ethical and moral obligations behind his desicions, and will follow through his desicions - for ill or otherwise.

Gtown - August 4, 2008 01:45 PM (GMT)
I picked Sun Jian. While I really like Sun Ce, Huang Gai, and Zhou Tai he really just takes it for me. He's always been decent moveset wise and seems a bit more unique than his sons. His designs always captured me as well. But after DW6 he shot past all three for me. It is the best he ever looked and he sounds kind of like Tadakatsu (strangely). Plus he is really good.

Da Qiao Forever - August 4, 2008 02:05 PM (GMT)
I chose Da Qiao. She was the very first character I played as in DW3 and I've loved her ever since. I loved her C6 in DW3 but then they changed it for the wind thing in DW4 and 5...Her moveset is really good. Her C3 is good in WO and WO2 for juggling and for her being a Tech. Her C4 is a good crowd clearer, but her C5 sucks because all of those suck but it takes her a long time to do it. Her C6 is very good but like her C5 it takes a while to start and end it. But I'm happy that in WO2 it got elements. I personally love her DW5 appearance and voice the best. Her DW3 and 4 made her look too young. Her DW3 voice wasn't good IMO and her DW4 voice is the same as her DW5 voice but it's a bit too deep...

wu_tiger - August 4, 2008 02:13 PM (GMT)
I choose............Da Qiao, she has been my favourite female ever since DW3, the C6 is ythe best in DW3, the wind thing kind of sucks compared to tat, Da qiao always has good costumes, and the flatter her very well, thats why Xiao Qiao stole her outfit for DW6, Xiaos outfit in DW6 seems very Da Qiao-esque. Da Qiao is the character that I must say, has the best moveset, it has good range, and her flip at the end puts the icing on the cake. Her musou is awesome, it is a great crowd clearer, and if you miss a general or 2 that fireball at the end of her true musou deals a big bunch of damage.

If I were to choose a male character it qwould most definitley be Zhou Yu or Lu Xun, Zhouy Yu cos hes awesome and Lu Xun cos he was the character that I first beat Lu Bu with in DW2, and also I want to look like hijm :D.

GoW - August 4, 2008 02:29 PM (GMT)
This is a tough one, Wu has a very overall talented roster. But I have to stick with my baby...Sun Shang Xiang. First vote

I love how here look has evolved over the years. Even in DW6 she looks like a pixie, but its still very rough in its own way, like she put her own spin on the look.
The Chakrams are very unorthodox, but fit her agile style of gameplay, the Bow is very historical and shared with Yue Ying, but one of the better MS in the entire game.

Her persona is very independent as she's not attached to any men outside of her brothers and father. The relationship she shares with Liu Bei is embellished a bit more in DW6, but not to the point she doesn't still have her own character.

yukimura sanada55 - August 4, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
i really liked sun ce his tonfa and his outfit and voice but wen i saw him in dw6 i was disapointed to his ponytail gone and to see him use a spear but still my otherall fav wu character :P :( :) B)

Samurai Master - August 4, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
I picked Zhou Tai I just really liked his moveset its fast and also stylish. It also makes sounds and that is another plus to it. His costume is awesome i especially like his DW5 design and also liked the design with the shredded mask. Even though he is Serious and quite and that he doesn't speak much he always lets his fighting do it for him and I think thats really cool. B)

Burning Skulls - August 5, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
Ehh, I'm not the biggest Wu fan but Lu Meng, Lu Xun, and Zhou Tai are my three favorites in it. I can't really choose between them though. But I'll pick Zhou Tai. ^_^

I think his weapon and costumes are awesome and I like how he is quiet but powerful.
Then Lu Xun because his costume and weapon in DW6 and he is a good young strategist.
Lu Meng since he is both a warriors and a strategist. His moveset and costumes are good too.

Dyansty Warrior77 - August 5, 2008 09:58 PM (GMT)
My faves r zhou yu, lu xun, and ling tong. iwould also say sun ce because well he fights awesome like the others. But i mostly play zhou yu.

Yoshitsune Minamoto - August 6, 2008 10:17 PM (GMT)
Well i would pick the two twins but since i can only pick one, its going to be Xiao Qiao, i always loved that girl, she is pretty, friendly and very cheerful, which is a must on any team!!

Basically the same for me, apart from I did take a look into the history side of things as people have probably guessed I kinda worship Meng B) lool :P .

wu_tiger - August 9, 2008 02:04 PM (GMT)
Haha still no votes for Taishi Ci, I guess it would be better if it was separated men from women, then you can have more of a choice.

Tadakatsu-Lu Bu - August 10, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
Zhou Tai

His moveset is awesome. Shadow Element suits him. I like his musou when I'm beating him in versus mode.

Off Topic: Yay 100th post!

Yashakim - August 11, 2008 09:28 AM (GMT)
Sun Ce! =D I like quite a lot in Wu but he is by far my favourite! He was one of the first characters I went when I first started playing DW and I have loved him ever since.

Its his fun loving personality which got me liking him not to mention his design <3 I find him very good looking! As for his tonfas, I find it great bashing peons with them haha

I admit I miss his tonfas and old design in DW6....the spear thing and look don't really do it for me but he's still my Wu fav! ^_^

Wow I'm surprised Zhou Tai has so many votes

Musuko Iemori - August 11, 2008 09:56 AM (GMT)
Torn between Zhou Yu and Ling Tong, but i had to pick Zhou Yu as i've been a fan of his longer.

I've always like his sword since DW3 and I was even happier with his DW6 weapon. The moveset with that is IMO the best ever in any DW game.

His personality isn't my favorite but i like it enough to still have him as my joint top DW (and wu) character.

LittleDragonZ - August 11, 2008 10:04 AM (GMT)
@Yashakim: Don't be surprised, I wasn't. I'm expecting for Xiao Qiao, Gan Ning, Zhou Tai and Sun Ce to be in the top 5 by the end of next year. Besides, I think some votes heavily rely on their DW6 weapon changes. Its just like how Zhuge Liang has become so much more popular with his creative new moveset. Whereas before he wasn't.

Nutella - August 11, 2008 10:43 AM (GMT)
If I factored in the DW6 changes my vote would be for either Zhou Tai or Lu Xun. But since Ive never really liked the game, my vote goes to my dear Ce.

I just love his personality and the powerful moveset that requires the use of his arms and legs. To me, Its just lovely to watch him dance on the field. I dislike what happened to him in dw6 where i feel that he got kinda stupid.

Wow I'm surprised Zhou Tai has so many votes

Zhou Tai is incredibly popular on both sides of the Pacific, really. Though for different reasons on each side - character-wise as a supporting character, gameplay-wise he's an easy-to-play swift offensive character.

Queen of Monkey (Nene) - August 11, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
I choose Da Qiao.
Because she is so beautiful and spoilt with Sun Ce. Her movesest is beautiful.
Her weapon is pink. Uuuu, My favorite colour.:P :D

The Hero - August 11, 2008 12:55 PM (GMT)
I love Sun Shang Xiang & Sun Ce.I think both of their personalities are awsome, I love their deisgns and how the costumes are.

And, they both fight great!! ^_^

Yuki - August 13, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
Sun Shang Xiang & Zhou Yu !!

But I think I prefer Sun Shang Xiang !

And she is Liu Bei's wife. A beautiful couple.

Lubu5176 - August 16, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
Sun ce all the way then Ling tong, third is Zhou yu

Obelisk - August 16, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
Lu Meng indefinetly. In DW 5 below, he was amazing his C2 and C5 I loved . Also he was an amazing general historically defeating Guan Yu and all . He went from warrior to scholar which is another reason I like him.

PatrickTheKing - August 16, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
Ahh! This was a very close one for me. As much as I wanted to vote Sun Jian, I ended up picking Taishi Ci. I have been a big fan of his for a long time... (well Sun Jian too... you can see this was hard! lol!)

onelastTAPOW - August 17, 2008 05:20 PM (GMT)
Gan Ning and Zhou Tai. Intersting and fun to play as with magnificent (Look and damage wise) musou attacks. One's loud and crazy, the other quiet and level-headed.

Muffin Vacation - August 17, 2008 05:24 PM (GMT)
It's only pretty recently that I've realised just how good a lot of the Wu characters are so it's pretty hard to choose. There's plenty in contention but I reckon Taishi Ci just about edges it for me, I'd give a specific reason if I oculd but to be honest I don't think there really is one. The likes of Lu Meng, Gan Ning (simply because he is the best in DW3 by a ridiculously long way), Sun Shang Xiang and Zhou Yu are all good characters too and qhat it is that seperates Taichi Ci from these for me I'm not quite sure, I suppose "Don't look at me like that, I'm a serious man!" did help him along the way though.

Ling Xing Shuo - August 17, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
I Would say...Gan Ning!I gotta love his musou and i like his voice...its cool.....and Piratey
