What's your favorite genre?

...Mine are RPGs, some FPSs (Halo is not one of them...), and I guess you could probably put RTSs on that list as well.

I loathe playing racing games.

TinyCaterpillar - April 29, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
RPGs will always be my favorite. I rather enjoy most strategy games too.

Auel - May 5, 2006 07:28 AM (GMT)
Hack n' slash. (I loathe the 'beat em up' phrase used. That should technically classify all games involving hitting as "beat em up" games.) Sometimes, RPGs like Tales of Symphonia.

Fighting .

zenkokuku - May 2, 2008 02:24 PM (GMT)
My favourite game genre depends on what mood I'm in.
If I feel like sitting down and got time to burn, I would go for an RPG.
If I'm in bad mood and feel like slashing AI's I would go for a hack n' slash.
When I'm out with friends I tend to go with Arcade games such as a fighting game(Tekken) or shooting game(Time Crisis/Counter-Strike) or a mix(DDR) or a MMORPG.
But overall, I enjoy most playing RPG games, the more time I spend on a game, the better the game quality and value it has for me.

Devil Shimazu - May 2, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
My favorite genre(s) are RPG and Fighting games.

Fighting games mostly for the one-on-one battles, such as in Tekken and Soul Calibur.

RPG's mostly for the time I have nothing to do.RPG games consume alot of time.
Mostly games such as the Final Fantasy series. ^_^

Bunnibun - May 7, 2008 01:13 AM (GMT)
My favorite genres are Strategy, Simulations, and whatever genre Agetec's
RPG maker series is.

zenkokuku - September 8, 2008 07:54 AM (GMT)
* Action-adventure – Grand Theft Auto for the LOL moments, Crash Bandicoots also brought some fun, but unfortunately True Crime series did not live long.
* Role-playing game – Final Fantasy X has no equal, I'd rather play this game 10 times than play 10 of my other top favourite games. FFX is the best game ever made, regardless of console versions.
Final Fantasy XII has a notable version, although the lack of romance was disappointing.
Kingdom Hearts series also bring good memories.
* Fighting – King Of Fighters '98 or Tekken. KOF for the mash and combos, Tekken if I want some timing added into the game play.
* First-person shooter – Counter-Strike, the first game I play in a net cafe with a bunch of friends, although everything was ruined after 1.6.
* Music game - DDR... don't play music games often.
* Platform – Most likely Super Mario, great classic, great game, great memories, the end.
* Puzzle – Bubble Bobble (mixture of consoles), great fun and laughter on how the characters are portrayed.
* Racing – A toss up between Gran Turismo or Burnout. Gran Turismo for some real car experiences and Burnout to do the craziest stunts ever.
Crash Kart racing games are worth a mention, but in terms of online play will go to Need For Speed's.
* Simulation – ...Sims?
* Stealth – Metal Gear Solid series (mainly 1 and 2), best sneaky games ever, no competition.
* Survival horror – House of Dead series, great weapons, reloading system, heaps of spooky + gore moments.
* Traditional sports – Virtua Tennis or Winning Eleven, I play them over and over again.

Credit to Crimsondramon for the list format.

Fayt - September 8, 2008 12:57 PM (GMT)
Role Playing Games always have been, and probably always will be my #1 genre. Just the way you can constantly build your characters and generally progress through the stories as your own pace is a delight. I've got many favourite RPG series such as Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, Suikoden, Fire Emblem, Phantasy Star, Grandia, Tales of, Valkyrie Profile to name a bunch. :P

Otherwise, RTS, action and fighting/hack n' slash games come next.
