Am I the only one who recognised the hard difficulity of this game so far?
I mean its almost impossible to earn somebodys 4th weapon!
I gave it a try with zhang Liao on lv.99. I took a Gaiden with three Stars on Hard difficulity...Too Hard..
Compare it with DW5. Take a Character on its maximum lv and go to earn your 4th weapon! Its much easier...
Then ive chosen a gaiden with ONE star and played it on Chaos difficulity!
OMG i got annihilated...pretty bad!

Yeah, some of the 4th weapons are insane to get. That's why it's awesome.

I didn't even have a 99 character to do this, what I did was choose the Battle of Sekihagara on Hard its a three star stage, I put the ability luck and I chose Zhao Yun which was around 60 and Mitsuhide who was around 40 and the character who I wanted the weapon for who was Sun Ce. I also put the ability that increases charge attack power. I usually spammed Mitsuhide's R1 and when he got low health I would use Zhao Yun's C4 or C5 and combined with the aforementioned ability it worked wonders. I ended up getting the 4th weapons for Zhao Yun and Sun Ce.

I chose that stage because the officers are spread out and theres not many troops. It gives you time to run away and heal if you need it. Only thing to really look out for is the last battle which is usally a powered up Sun Quan with Zhao Tai, but Mitsuhide's R1 spam takes care of that. You can also try Mitsunari, Xing Cai and Zhao Tai and spam they're R1's.

Try playing on chaos for once, i can tell you right now you wont even get past the first damn officer you meet lol.
I as a koei games veteran on top of my game couldnt beat a generic, he killed me in 2 hits...

The difficulty is no difficulty its a impossibility, it has nothing to do with skill really.
Youll be buttonbashing to switch characters and spam R1's the whole time, what is the fun in that?

I much rather have High AI (computer blocking and jumping, using their good combos and attacks into combos etc) than them killing you in a few hits....

A level 99 Yukimura can one-shot generic officers on hard with his RB attack in the Wei stage where you have to save Diao Chan (5-X?). Thats pretty much the one I use to get 4ths.

Never play a 5 star battle on Hard or Chaos mode. I learned that first hand as well lol. The best character for me to use on hard mode on a 3 star stage is Tokugawa Ieyasu in the Battle of Wan Castle because of his R1 and the fact the stage is small and not alot of enemies to knock you down in 2-3 hits. I used him along with 2 other characters to get most of the 4th weapons that way.

Exactly the one I'm doing to get the 4th weapons, while I personally use a combination of Mitsunari and Ginchiyo/Ieyasu and as third the character whose 4th weapon I want. Though I've been beaten a couple of times, it's currently the only level with 3 stars I'm able to do on Hard :unsure:

Yeah this IS hard! I couldnt even beat LuBu in an 5 star stage on NORMAL with my 99 Zhang Liao!!!

One thing is very sad: Theres no Musou rage anymore...its not easy to battle those monsters without musou rage

I gotta ask: those special item for each character only enhances R1 attacks?

the game isn't hard. They just hit harder :P

well of course the game easy but because they hit harder so it make the game more difficult and im talking about chaos cause hard easy way too easy ^_^

I find the difficulty of the game a little higher then that in DW5 & SW2 for sure. The enemies, particularly generals tend to battle more defensively and have greater attack power for when they hit you. I guess they need it though considering you can swap your character to allow the other to rest, as well as the ease of regaining your Musou gauge.

It's certainly a different type of difficulty at the least, which is a good thing really - nice to see the games challenge us in a slightly different way.

i dont find it that hard, its just that enemies do a bit more damage, and your allies are weak as hell, thats all, other than that, its ok for me

I did a level one on chaos. Because my dad was like, "you play easy to much, play hard!" So I played chaos ..
I took my strongest characters ..

1.Nobunaga (R1 Boost Spamming with C3)
2.Tadakatsu (Good Officer Killer)
3.Orochi (Cuz .. 8))

I must admit it was tough, Nobunaga like .. BARELY died JUST before I won.
Though, I was happy to see I obtained a fourth weapon for Tadakatsu and Orochi.

Hard's very hard without 4th weapons. I've yet to brave chaos.

I thought it had to be four star difficulty to get 4th weapons on hard? I beat a 4 star level on hard and got Dun and Honda's 4th weapon but Nobunaga for some reason didn't get his.

No, I use the stage where you recruit Kunoichi on Hard to get fourth weapons (three star difficulty). They show up at least once most of the time. It's just easier to find them on four star stages.

Whenever I play hard mode I only do a 3 star level.

Do you only get them from X stages? I thought the stage doesn't matter as long as the difficulty is 3-star or above and you're playing on Hard.

Anyway, I tried Wei's 1st stage on Hard with characters who were under level 30. It was much easier than I expected. I seriously have no idea why some people claim that they can't do them even with level 99 characters. Granted, peons and generals are pretty deadly but with Flash, Brave, Might and Slay combination they shouldn't even be able to touch you.

Best place to get Fourths for me is Shu's 3rd Gaiden I think..the one where you lure the enemies in the center while Zhu Rong and Xing Cai attack Date's main camp. Just use your best Highest lvl warrior as the main guy..I use Sun Ce...other two be the ones you want the weapons for..I did this for most of the new people that have joined me on SW story. Might be Fourth Gaiden but its a 3 rank star map on hard...

I think its just a matter of the game beeing a little bit easier for certain characters.
Guys like Guan Ping, Yue Ying, Ranmaru, and even Hanzo seem to have it easier at times than say Ma Chao or Ina. Elemental hits seem to rule this game, and the more the character has the easier it is to kill even Orochi on Chaos.

On another note, the specials seem to take precedent in this game as well. Ones with more useful/cheesy specials like Mitsunari (nuff said), SSX (infinite juggle) and Ginchyo (her being a power type that special is just wrong) also have it pretty easy at higher levels. Others like Okuni and Kanetsugu, WTF Koei?

For 4th weapon farming, I like Shu stage 6 (Hu Lao Gate) because the conditions are relatively easy, there are 4 weapons dropped by generals, and best of all, NO ARCHERS or RIFLEMEN. :lol:

Playing a 4 star on hard is pretty insane..but to make it easy i use Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, and Guan Ping, those guys are ur sure bet of victory

Not really. I did 4-star stage on Hard yesterday and all my characters were under level 40. Like I said, get right attributes for the weapons and you're good to go >_>.

i find it easy using characters like zhou tai, and mitsunari, whos speacial are quick, effective, and spammable to the max, but...right now, im stuck on a wall, going nowhere, ive finished all levels i can, got all characters i can, but it still wont let me do the 8th gaidens, any help?

Like it's been mentioned many times, you need to fulfill certain requirements on 7th stage for each force >_>.

Shu: Escape from the burning castle within 2 minutes without leaving your allies behind
Wei: Defeat Da Ji within 1 minute after her betrayal
Wu: Rescue Sun Jian and Quan within 3 minutes
Samurai: Get 1000 KOs

If you are able to control your character, then it will be easy to play them at Hard difficulty, 4-star stage or even 5-star stage. I remembered using one under lvl 30 to get his 4th weapon, LOL.

That's always a smart idea though Meia, have two powerful guys and carry another through the battle just to get them a decent weapon!

The more I play it the more I consider the difficulty on the Empires level; it's really as hard as you want it to be. If you use your best characters all the time you won't struggle at all, but if you want to try your other guys out and develop them as well you'll make it tougher for yourself.

I play Wan Castle on Hard Difficulty when wanting to get their fourth weapons, since there's quite a few boxes that drop them. Plus you can get health and attack boosts from the gifts that the people leave.

Plus there isn't too many people harassing you

But the difficulty has definetly increased, which makes it far more challenging.

@Robyn: I did the exact same thing along with Wei Gaiden 5-X which isn't that hard on hard mode even going against Lu Bu.

I myself like to play 1-star stages on Chaos. They're not that hard since you rarely get surrounded by enemy generals. I think the chances for obtaining 4th weapon are about 90% when your Karma is at level 5 or above >_>.

I've already got all 4th weapons with Asai, Ishida, and Ma Chao, from hard mode Koshi Castle. Fun Times. Tried Chaos, on the Sengoku One, Dominated the entire level, but when i was taking out the cannons/Da Ji/ ambush around Kenshin...well..Peon Swarms=Lose.

I didn't know you can unlock 4th lvl weapons on a 1 star stage on Chaos. It doesn't matter for me anymore since I got all 77 of them. :3

So we can all agree that one thing the AI has improved up, since Empires, is juggling. ^_^

Yes, i tried it. it is hard especially with lv99 nobunaga oda and kotaro fuma!

i got 2 enemy officers down then one came and killed me :|

Honestly I suggest you use your strongest character, character you want to have 4th weapon, and yuan shao for 2x attack special :lol:


thats what i did and I have alot of 4th weapons. :)

Zuo Ci's buff is 3x attack..
And its unlimited since it doesn't use up musou.
