Who has the best special move in your oppion.

For me it is Zhou Tai and Guan Yu.
Zhou Tai: dos not use musou gauge and and kills anyone in its path.
Guan Yu: powerful and knocks away alot of life to generals, and makes his attack super fast.

I also like Mitsunaris, but it uses the gauge unlike Zhou Tai.

Gan Ning, Pang De, Zhou Yu

In my opinion, about 95% of the characters' R1 are useful.

Just a few:

Zhao Yun - useful for fast archer killing.
Xiahou Dun - running away easily.
Sima Yi - very powerful.
Taishi Ci - good to spam.
Mitsuhide - another great 1 to spam.
Zhen Ji - another fun spammable.
Sun Quan - that slash is very strong.

^ zenkokuku said it all, almost everyones R1 in Warriors Orochi is awesome.

Mitsunari is clearly one of the better ones, and a favourite if your struggling, it used Musou but only very little.

Mitsuhide probably has the most effective one which I enjoy using often, very spamable.

Nagamasa's however is one I like for it's style, uses alot of Musou but that massive clearing it provides is awesome.

Although, at the end of the day most of them are just way to cheap. :P

Ginchiyo's. All the way.

Zhou Yu's - If I need to clear a bunch of troops without wasting too much time or I need to save my skin, his does a very good job in doing so and can kill most peons with one hit.

Sun Quan's - The Gigantic Flame Sword move is actually fun to use though too bad it uses a bit too much musou.

Mitsuhide Akechi - Not the one where he swirls in mid-air, the one that he sends some wave torward enemies, makes me want to spam it to no end.

Any Tech Character

Umm... Zhou Tai is speed, not Tech.
His R1 is similar to Mitsuhide, although Mitsuhide's 1 is slightly more spammable.

1. I didn't know that i manly use Mitsuhide as a normal fighter

2. I don't know if any else notice but doesn't Zhuo Tai's normal R1 look like what the MMPR Megazord did when it finished a bad guy

Yes, it looks similar to many samurai characters with swords.
I like the stance, but Mitsuhide draws back the sword faster so it is faster to spam.

For me I would have to say...

Sun Quan: Unblockable fire attack with good wide range from the front and back.
Ieyasu: Shoots a powerful beam. Need I say more?
Mitsunari: Best for spamming out crowds.
Lu Meng: I find his very useful and powerful for crowds.
Sun Ce: I just love abusing his.
Zhen Ji: Not the strongest, be useful for slowing down enemy officers like Lu Bu.

I can go on considering most of the R1s are powerful and useful but these are my favorite to use and abuse.

Da Ji and Zhen Ji R1 atacks are Very Usseful

Oftentimes Mitsunari lets me finish stages very quickly with his R1. Without it, battles would take soooo much longer.

I reckon if Zhen Ji's R1 had that extra damage added, then she would make the best crowd clearer or 1-on-1 officer killing machine.
No musou required, and slows down the survivor, just a bit low on the damage.
Her R1 is definitely 1 of the most useful.
Sun Jian's R1... can be suicidal if not used carefully...

For R1 Specials?

Hideyoshi's R1 Hands down is one of the best R1 buffs EVAR... tripled attack speed for the whole party makes it INCREDIBLE for your Samurai Slicing pleasures, especially for those who are in dire need of faster attack speed.

Tachibana's Thunderbolt R1 is incredible for clearing crowds and it can also cross up at close range, making block whore officers pay the price. It also gives her some sort of buff, which is useful anyway.

Guan Yu's R1 more often than not is almost the same concept of usefulness as an R1 to Tachibana's. And the increased attack speed is a blessing.

Sun Ce's R1 is also my favorite. Its devastating to crowds, its pretty safe to use, innate fire element, and you can use it as a juggle after the C5.

Yes, I have to agree Hideyoshi's buff is the best overall, just switch back to other characters if you don't wanna hear his voice.
Cao Cao and Liu Bei (maybe Yuan Shao as well)'s buffs arent that bad, attack and defence is useful too.
Tadakatsu's buff is similar to Guan Yu's except he's one begins with a massive wave on the ground, instantly killing lower hp soldiers or stunning generals.
I reckon Tachibana's R1 is too short for range, and is slow to cast.
Sun Ce... just fun to use, no comment.

LOL.. switch to other chars if you hate Hideyoshi's XD...

Heck, low level Hideyoshi is enough for me to take on harder missions as long as I can keep myself safe from harm.

Honda's R1 also makes him regenerate Health... in which he is only the few who enjoys such blessing.. XD.

Tachibana's R1, well I've practiced enough to avoid collisions before using xD.. but despite the slow casting time, its still possible to cross up enemies when done properly. Its still quite the crowd clearer though even for its range...

Oh.. so that's what Liu Bei's R1 does... and Cao Cao has the same... pretty useful and both characters are overall good to use too. Yuan Shao has a weird Calculation for his Command buff though.

When Yuan Shao's buff is used at full hp, the damage is like SO HIGH, but as you get hit by the enemies, that's when his R1 becomes useless.

Any low level character is enough to take on harder stages if they are not hit.
This game on chaos mode is about whether you get hit or not.
You get hit, you die, you don't get hit, you win.

Zhou Tai, Mitsunari, Ling Tong, Da Ji, Taishi Ci(there are more, but ill only post these right now)

Zhou Tai: because its the perfect spammable move, its got brillient everything, how can you not like it

Mitsunari: same as Zhou Tai, the only problem with it is the fact that it costs musou to use it

Ling Tong: man is this guy quick with his moves, and this just makes him even more my favourite character

Da Ji: perfect officer killer

Taishi Ci: can be joined together to make an awsome, strong attack, and its fast and doesnt cast any musou

Fav ones:
Zhou Tai - totally spammable
Taishi - Ditto on this. His def is so low (died twice after being juggled. Granted I was playing hard/chaos mode but still...) but his R1 redeems him in my eyes.
Xiao Qiao - That flying kick of her's is just useful to get away from the crowd. B)

Mine are:
Ieyasu: BIG damage
Ginchiyo: crowd clearer
Keiji and Tadakatsu: Buff and gd damage
Dong Zhuo: Gd officer killer
Magoichi: Same as dong zhuo
Mitsunari: Abusable
Guan Yu: same as keiji and tadakatsu
Zhang liao: Gd damage

I generally like r1 moves that dont use up a lot of musou or take off big damage. My favoures are:

Xiahou Dun - uses no musou and is really good for escaping crowds
Lu Bu/Keiji/Tadakatsu - all take off huge amounts of damage
Ranmaru - amazing move, can 1 hit KO officers ^_^
Nagamasa - same as above
Mitsunari - great for spamming
Strategist's (Sima Yi, Zhuge Liang etc) - good for crowd clearing when is hits

Cant think of any more at the moment

When it comes to usefulness, my favorites has to be Mitsunari and Ginchiyo for reasons already stated. I also like Lu Meng's arrows which are very useful to avoid being mobbed by generals and to juggle. I've also been playing around with the R1 of Lu Xun and Zhou Yu and I find them very powerful.

But when it comes to fun, I'm addicted to Shingen's piledriver, Zhen Ji's slap (C3, cancel into L+R1), and Noh's bombs.

Kanetusug's flying knives. I just love it when he says "For honor!" >_>.

Yukimura's R1- Just equip Absorb to his weapon and you'll be going through people's soul through the battle.

Kunoichi's R1- The cheapest R1 in the game. Equip Absorb to her weapon and you're good to go.

Xu Zhu's R1- I just love to bodyslam people. It's so fun.

Xiao Qiao's R1- I just love the kick. It's great for clearing crowd and running away.

Dian Wei's SSS+R1- Extremely powerful.

Huang Gai, Shingen, Meng Huo, Dong Zhou and Nene's R1- I love grab attacks, they're so addicting to use.

Zhen Ji- it slows down your opponents and her slap move is awesome to use to finish someone
Ginchiyo- Anyone who's near is dead
Da Ji-It isn't a one thats just one attack it goes over and over and gives the enemy's nightmares

Ah yeah, I forgot to add her's to my list. Tachibana's is very useful but you got to be careful where to use it so that is actually hits the enemy. I went to use it on Lu Bu once but I wasn't close enough and it missed him. >.>

Cao Ren's S + R1 throw - yeah, yeah, surprise of the century that this is one of my favorites. But it really does rock for being an effective and fun way to explode crowds from up close.

Hideyoshi's speed buff - puts the game on fast forward. Weeee.

Zhou Tai's Crissaegrim - wide area of effect, useful, amusing.

Ieyasu Tokugawa's fricking quad laser beam - an officer killer even on higher difficulties (though I like to freeze first on hard and above).

Xiahou Dun's R1 + forward tornado - when used to cancel C1, a good way to zoom around like crazy while cleaning up peons.

Da Ji's is perfect for officer killing on hard mode!

I like Zhuge Liangs aswell, good damage, plus Jiang Weis!

I like the magical attack ones!

well, ill use any special that does decent damage, and has decent range

i would have to say

Ieyasu and Zhang Liao but my fave is Sun Ce

and Mitsunari's is useful aswell :)

a little update... on my favorite r1s

Sun Ce's = reason already stated, can be juggled after c5, makes stylish ways of killing officers.

Tachibana's = reason already stated, can cross up at certain angles, r1 cancel + jump charge bug to entertain myself... and lovely buff is lovely for Miss Tachibana

Hideyoshi = one of the more impressive buffs in the game... makes him a blessing especially in SW's story mode or chars who just attack too slow ^_^

Mitsunari (L3 + r1) = almost Everyone loves this guy's move... it can even make for some really cheap juggles on officers.

Ranmaru = the unblockable factor makes this amazing at clearing out block whore enemies

Taishi Ci = his r1 attacks, with no musou cost makes him now a REALLY MEAN killing machine! Now he can clobber crowds and still pound on officers 1on1 like crazy

Xiahou Dun = very useful r1s. They are comboable like crazy and L3+r1 has a crazy cancellable frame for the r1... crazy moves makes Xiahou Dun more crazily fun to use ^_^.

Tokugawa = definitely one of the most coolest looking and amazingly damaging specials to ever grace. And its a friggin Proton Cannon that puts iron man's to shame.

Honda = one of the most montrous r1s in the game... warstomp that slaughters peons, increased attacking power and rate, and health regeneration (Like does he really need that).... Peerless awesomeness!!!!

I like Xiahou Dun's special moves, quick and effective and good against waves of enemies without Musou usage (I wouldn't think that Dun was a speed type)

I also love Lu Bu's power slam as it's one of the most powerful special moves in the game.

Tadakatsu's special move is great on hard and chaos modes due to the fact that he recovers life as well as increase attack strength and speed.

Sun Jian's can be useful if you have plenty of health to spare and in dire need of using Musou

I must admit although I am not a fan of Tokugawa but that speical move of his is one hell of a move.

Zhen Ji's flute attack is useful, and her bish slaps x3

I Like Kunoichis R1 most. Invicible for a few seconds +Refill Abilty + Increse musou gauge thingy Ability + Decrease Musuo Gauge Usage Abilty = PWNAGE ! PERMANENT INVI !

Cao Cao - Quite useful, and when mastered can be very deadly.

Dian Wei - When timed right with the technique, it's very powerful.

Cao Pi - Can be pretty critical when he has plenty of Musou left in him.

Lu Xun - yeah it rocks, flame wall from the side direction also you can juggle too...
Nouhime - she's not bad venom needles and planting bomb from the ground also you
need to perform a charge attack to activate the bombs!
Tadakatsu Honda - no doubt the monster of the game he will perform a powerful stomp
also it can regenerates life! Pretty useful I must say :D
Ieyasu Tokugawa - the WAR MACHINE of this game! Laser Cannon dang!
Yuan Shao - he's buff is awesome it depends the life of the user and transferable too!

Mitsunari's can 1 hit KO everyone (except those guard captains) in easy mode. PWNT!! B)

On easy mode, Lvl99 chars., maxed out weapons.
I think theres gotta be more than just Mitsunari who can do that. <_<
