I'm another yaoi fan, but I'm rather picky about what I see... For instance, if I don't like the characters' designs ("OMG too cutie!") I don't bother to give the story a try (even if it's highly recommended and so forth).

So I'd say I prefer fandoms to actual yaoi, "canon" stories that's it. The only yaoi story I used to read, the Viewfinder Series by Ayano Yamane, disappointed me badly after the author decided to turn the whole storyline into the closest possible to a badfic, all clichés included. Since then, I stick to fanfiction, fanarts, doujinshis...

I cannot read Yaoi. Just doesn't do it for me. Usually void of detail and color, no movement, and no vocals. Gods I LOVE some good vocals. I need to watch it. Good ol' internet. :lol:

I'm a fan of some yaoi anime/manga, not all. At first, i was sick to death with this genre.
But i tried to watch Loveless (XD) and, it's pretty decent for me (though until now, i'm still avoiding sex scenes). So i downloaded some yaoi anime/manga, doujinshi, fanarts.
Though, like Scyllua, i'm quite picky.(especially in Doujinshi/Fanarts) Hey, i don't want to see beefcake guys in yaoi manga! X(

I personally like Yuri, but I don't read the manga, just watch the anime with them. I think that Yaoi/Yuri is practically porn when nudity is involved. I guess its good for (asian) girls because they can "get off" to this kind of stuff :P

I think Hentai is safer to watch than porn. Well lol its still porn, but it's not actual people. I only said it was disgusting for me to watch. I respect other's opinions and ideas if they like it or not. Nothing wrong with that :)

Huh. I didn't look into Yaoi/Yuri/Hentai/Shonen-ai UNTIL I got into Dynasty Warriors. I have friends who are obsessed with anime, but I've never really gotten in to myself. There were these girls at my high school who were total "Otaku," and they carried around yaoi images they had printed off the internet and would enjoying forcing it in front of people's face, giggling. I wasn't familar with the concept, so I'd accuse them of being perverts...
However, when I starting playing DW, I started talking with other fans on message boards and exploring fan pages, and that's how I discovered yaoi fan art. I was curious, and my initial response to the likes of seeing Jiang Wei hugging Zhuge Liang was laughter. I thought it was rather humorous! But the more I looked at it, and saw how accepting people were about it, the more it grew on me and I enjoyed looking at. I thought it was really cute to see Zhou Yu snuggling Sun Ce, or Zhang He flirting with Sima Yi.

However, I haven't explored Hentai or any thing too hard core. I personally don't want to see anything beyond hugging, kissing, touching, so I guess I'm more of a shonen-ai person. I just think I'd feel really uncomfortable seeing anything beyond that. Call me prude, but whatever.

The only yaoi paring I really still enjoy is Sima Yi & Zhang He from Dynasty Warriors. I guess I like the fact that they are opposites, but could be very compatible at the same time. They are like Yin & Yang, in a way. Yeah, so I'm by no means a yaoi fangirl... but I do see the appeal.

Personally, I don't find Yuri appealing, but I can understand way people would enjoy it.
I think the reason females prefer guy on guy, and males enjoy girl on girl is the fact that there's no competition. If it's two girls making love, what guy is going to be jealous? That's the way I see... if that makes sense... ^^;
