Title: Parasite Eve

its an older game, came out shortly after FFVII I believe. There's two games, Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve II. Its rather short, each game averages 8-10 hours to play, but I found it has a gripping story, lots of customization options gear wise, and like a really good movie, I want to play it again, and again...and you get the point. Its kind of a RPGish Resident evil, you have levels, and gear and all the goodness of RPG, but its more of a resident evil horror/thriller game and character controls and movemennt are Resident evil (especially the second one).

The First one takes place in new york, following the main character Aya Brea. a police detective, on Christmas Eve as she embarks on 6 days of hell, and familar memories as she learns of the "next stage of evolotion" as Eve, a evil creature apparently being "born" as the mitchondria parasites in her body break free of the nucleus's control and take over. Motchondria are small parasites that live within our bodies, they act as a energy storage device, they rely on the nucleus for vital things for their life, and in return the nucleus{Which is exactly based on actual science} gets energy from them. As events unfold (and you level up) Aya learns of her past, her sister Maya and her own strange powers.

The second one takes place after the first one, Aya quits her job to join a special task force to drive out all the Mitchondria creatures, even though the threat of eve has vanished, the creatures still pop up, and even now people are being effected and turned into horrible creatures. It's Aya's job to find out who, or what exactly is behind this. Her investigation leads her to small, almost ghost town in the middle of the nvada dessert. Whats this run down rickity town hiding, and what horror's lie here...

Has anyone else played Parasite Eve and loved it as much as I do?

Oh, and random Trivia: The MIST Director's nickname is Hal and there are scientists named Bowman, Poole, Floyd and Chandra - all references to 2001: A Space Odyssey {1968} and 2010 {1984}

I'm tempted to put this in the RPG section, anyway.

I've only played the 2nd one, thanks to PAL getting ripped off and not getting the 1st...nothing new there though.

I quite enjoyed the blend of horror/shooter meets RPG. Aya was a pretty awesome lead character and having the ability to use various guns/granade launchers etc and magic as well was excellent. I played PE2 around 4-5 times, iirc when you finish the game there are a few post game rewards as well, new guns etc. It's a shame the series never really continued from there.

Yeah, I agree. I so would love to see a revival of it on PS3.

i absolutely loved the first Parasite Eve game, the second wasn't so great.

It makes me sad that I actually can't finish the first game on my own due to the last boss chasing you around in a maze..

The most memorable thing of the first game would probably be OST.

as for this game, I personally think it's more RPG than shooter while the second is more shooter orientated. Since this is predominantly about the first game i will move to the RPG section? : >

The topic was aimed at the series as a whole. I personally think this should remain in the shooter section, but I don't feel like arguing over something inane.

Oh, and what was that exactly? I forget a bit of the game but perhaps if you put in some details I could probably help you.

yeah do a third one, give Aya a jetpack and put her in space too... you know what I am referring to...

you know when I think about it, Square has its fair share franchises not working out, remember the Bouncer?

Fayt - April 4, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I remember the Bouncer, it was reasonable but nothing to get overly excited about.

As for Parasite Eve, I think there was supposed to be a 3rd one on a mobile phone or some joke of a release like that. I honestly thought it was a strong enough series to sustain a 3rd. :/

I thought P.E was going to be like an RE type game. I heard the controls are kinda sluggish.

I ended up playing a bit of PE2, but then the discs stopped working. *sigh*
At any rate, from what I saw: it was an interesting game, slightly reminded me of the classic RE games mixed with an RPG style battle system as well, with a bit of a different flow to it.
I remember The Bouncer too, I didn't mind it so much, but after seeing it I think SE should stick to RPGs, or somehow develop a better fighting system. o.o
