IC Information
Name: Ian Tate

Avatar: Colin Farrell

Occupation: Constable (officer)

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Appearance: Ian is of a decent height just above six foot. His skin is tanned, as he enjoys spending time outside. Ian has dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. His face normally wears a mustache and beard but will periodically shave it off to give him something ‘new’ of appearance. His hair is usually kept short but not shaved. Ian is normally found in dark pants, consisting of black or dark charcoal and light colored shirts. He has matching jackets to his trousers and will be seen in winged tipped black shoes. Ian is normally found with a cigarette hanging between his lips or behind his ear. It is a habit to keep him constantly moving, and when not found with either of those he is chewing on something that has no reason to be in his mouth and normally is playing with something in his hands. Ian is does fidget which makes his otherwise distinguished appearance, look more unkempt.

Personality: Ian is not nervous by nature, though his fidgeting behavior would make one believe otherwise. It is more that Ian has a lot of uptight energy and he expunges this energy in any means necessary which includes pacing the floors, smoking, and keeping his hands in motion. Along with this, the complete rush of being on assignment and being faced with danger and death keeps that adventurous and energy just under control. He has a off beat enjoyment in his work, and doesn’t allow anything to phase him including the gruesome murders that he has seen in the past. He has learned to become rather stoic in front of something that others would find hideous and has learned to manage and move on with life.

This nature has left him rather separated from the rest, and more like a black sheep. He likes the action of the city and yet finds on his off times he is more of a lonesome character, preferring to tend fields, fishing and getting his mind to some sort of serenity. Of course this serenity still includes him working and keeping himself busy.

Ian doesn’t mind talking to others and being included in conversation. But his knack for enjoying strange journals and learning methods on how to be a thief or to act like the criminal leaves a distaste around the female types. Ian has a want for knowledge and enjoys pouring over journals and articles on ancient methods to hurt people as well as the news paper in different areas that could lead him to a crime that may or may not happen in his fine city.

History: Ian was born to a doctor and his wife. Rachel and Ben Tate. Ben worked hard in his profession and his wife helped out when needed with washing rags and bringing items to Ben. They lived a relatively happy life in the quaint home that they lived in. They preferred to be outside the city and when Ian was born he enjoyed the country himself. He took a great joy into fishing, hunting and just being out in nature. As he got into studies he took most things precariously. He did not enjoy most of his lessons but always got interested when it came to things like law, and science and medicine. His father had high hopes for Ian to become a doctor himself but Ian was more interested in different methods, like poisons and methods to abuse and harm and victimize.

His father had become fearful of Ian’s love for torture and devices of the such and took great care in looking after him. As Ian aged he spent equal time with his parents. He would help his father at the practice, doing things that his mother used to do. And when not there he would spend time with his mother, tending to his baby sister or helping his mother with the cooking. She tried to lure him into liking girls, especially the fancy red head down the road, but Ian just buttoned up the moment the girl walked into the room. Fearful he’d end up alone she decided to teach him the necessities to cook, just in case he wouldn’t have a wife to feed him and that he wouldn’t have a job to pay for a cook. Surprisingly Ian enjoyed cooking. Of course in the warped setting that this was a means of torture if the animal wasn’t already dead.

As he reached eighteen Ian finished his studies and took a look into working as a constable. He put in his talents and started doing basic desk work and merely following others around when they went on calls. He would have to write up all the reports so he busily wrote down all he would see at the scene to make sure he’d do a good job. In a few years he moved up, no longer was he running errands or doing measly desk work but was out there doing what he needed to do to keep the streets safe. This profession makes him happy. It gives him free time to read and relax out at the fields when he needs to and also keeps his overactive mind on tasks at the office.

Strengths: Ian tries to stay one step ahead of others.
He is knowledgeable in his field.
Not the type that needs someone to survive.

Weaknesses: Ian is rather bad at meeting new people.
His fidgeting causes him to lose focus and also to not see the fine details.
Has a bad temper and takes a long time for him to calm down.
His interest in torture turns people off when he starts to talking to them, so people tend to shy away from him.

This is when he's not on the job, right? Just so you know it, he'd have to wear a uniform while on duty.

Does he let people (other than his parents) know about his keen interest in torture and violence? Because if he does, you can always add as a weakness that people would be a tad freaked out by him... I sure as hell would.

Yes ma'am it would be when he is off duty. When on duty he would be in uniform.

And you are right, so I added that to my weakness.

Hallo there! Any friend that's a friend of Rose's is a friend of ours. :) Glad to have you!

Just to make sure you know, as a peeler you will work seven days a week and get paid one pound per week for it, and you'll get about five days of (unpaid) vacation per year. Also, as a constable, you are very very low on the rungs of the police organisation. :) They treated coppers bad, yes they did.

But... :mjinga: Welcome to the board.
