Title: Seventh???
Description: Bad news...

Anastazia Bartos - March 5, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
I've just found out...I was seventh on the English competition I had today.

Does that mean I don't know English? Because I think I messed up capital letters test. Is that a big deal?

Meh.

I don't know about the capital letters, but don't give the competition results too much thought. You're a good writer and getting better every day, especially with the training you get from RP'ing. :)

Two things I've noticed you do:
You write "as the matter of fact" instead of "as a matter of fact." Just a small detail. And I'm not sure if you meant Anneliese to "smirk" - I've seen you do that a couple of times too - smirking is a mean/evil-ish smile. Or " to smile in an affected, smug, or offensively familiar way."

So that's the English-lesson (from the Norwegian <.<) for today. I think I'll let the other English-speaking people deal with other details they might or might not have seen you do.

I think you're doing good. I like your posts. They're very entertaining. :) And coming in seventh doesn't have to be so bad! How many contestants were there? Maybe some have English-speaking parents or lived in an English-speaking country or even went to an English-speaking school?

Anyway; screw da competition. Have fun with reading and writing - don't make it into something hard and stressy. Yupyup. I'm gonna stop babbling now. Bai.

:knives: :knives: :knives: You know what I've just found out?

I should have been first!!!!!!!!!!! But, I didn't read a task properly, and I copied a sentence wrong.

Am I not a dunce???? I should have been first!

And I know what smirk means. BTW, my English teacher deems 'as the matter of fact' correct...and so do many Americans I know, lol.

Really? I never seen it said, evvah. :) Perhaps it's used on the other coast.

Personally, I think you shouldn't stress so much over your English. Your posts are easy-to-understand and entertaining, and the few errors you do make are not out of the ordinary, nor do they distract from the flow of things. Don't worry about them excessively. :)

Lol, now I'm angry with myself because I should have been first!

:) Reading the directions carefully always helps.
