IC Information
Name: Heather Thatcher

Avatar: Rosamund Pike

Occupation: Bar maid

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Appearance: Heather Thatcher is a young woman of “normal” height. She is neither taller nor shorter than most, and doesn’t mind it either way. If one was first to catch a glimpse of Heather one would think she was introverted, conservative, and diminutive. She is as much those things as a hog is a princess (not likely). She has a kindly feel about her but deep down she is quiet the opposite. Heather has a head of blonde curly hair. It goes quiet well with the sweet and innocent look that she has. Her skin is pale and has faint scars/scratches from bar brawls. Heather wears plain clothes. She hasn’t got the money to buy fancy dresses. She only has one gown and that was her mothers.

Personality: Heather’s looks are deceiving, she is not as those that first look at her think. Never judge a book by its cover comes to mind when one thinks of Heather. She looks like a petite, kind, and young woman. Although she is young she is not as kind or petite as those would have thought. She has strong opinions but keeps them to herself, most of the time. She is prone to burst and force in her opinion to a conversation where she thinks relevant. She has a lot of patience and is very good at settling down rough men who have had too much to drink.

She will often judge people too quickly and never really give them a chance to redeem themselves. Although she has a motherly tendency, Heather is one of those women who care a lot about those who are close to them and will trust those she deems worthy.

Heather doesn’t like her current situation. She hates not having money but she will put on a smile and act like everything is ok. She doesn’t let people pry into her life. She wants to get married and settle down but just doesn’t have the time for romance.

History:
Heather was the first born to Andrew and Joan Thatcher. Her mother is a home maker and her father is a farrier. They don’t earn a lot of money so Heather never had the nicest things in life. They lived in a small house in the farmlands. It wasn’t the nicest house but it did just fine. Heather never complained once about her childhood. About going to a ragged school, having to cook and clean most days, having to leave school at age 12 to help her mother with the 3 other girls she had given birth too or about having pumpkin soup most nights.

Heather’s mother always had her best interests at heart so she tried to get Heather a husband. The best she could come up with was Heather’s mother’s friend’s son, Rupert. A good enough looking bloke but at the time Heather didn’t really want to get married and settle down.

At age 17 Heather moved out of her house and went to work at the bar in the local tavern in the town (which she still works at). She held board there and was given food to eat. She visits her mother and father every second day.

Strengths:
- Will power
- Wit
- An innocent smile
- Patient
- Good with people (men)

Weaknesses:
- Not liked by women (thought the be a bit of a floozy, her occupation)
- Grudge Holding
- Lack of education
- Can get a bit nasty at times
- Easily distracted

Hello and welcome!

Ukay:
First of all: "PMs" is not a valid contact. Please read the template more carefully, we need a mail-adress that we know you will be checking, or preferably IM.

On Appearances:
QUOTE
Her skin is pale and without imperfections.
In general you mention no imperfections at all in her looks. She sounds a little too perfect for a bar-maid...
QUOTE
She isn’t prone to cuts or grazes, as she spends most of her time keeping out of harms way.
In a bar? How? Also; what does she wear?

On the Personality:
This section seems full of contradictions to me.
QUOTE
She is hot headed, temperamental, open, loud, cynical, unpredictable, adventurous and strong willed. But she does have some good qualities. Heather can be sympathetic, gentle, humorous, intelligent, glamorous and graceful.
Hot headed and Loud? In Victorian times? That would hardly be considered graceful, if womanly at all. She basically seems too modern for these times. You also mention "open" up there, but then go you go on saying that she puts up a wall around her and doesn't let anyone in.

And how did she end up having "Street smarts" as a strength if she's a middle class girl?

On the History:
It's too bare, you'll need to flesh it out more.

How did a middle class daughter of a "respected" man end up as a bar maid? How old was she when she started working? Why do her parents let her live at home still - isn't it a shame for the family (that she's a bar-maid, I mean)? Why weren't the children tutored/educated if their father was rich enough to have a library - and was even a writer himself - wouldn't he want them to learn how to read?

Overall I think this character needs a little work. There are parts of it that aren't particularly well thought-through. But it's a nice start, and I'm sure we'll have her after a few edits. How about making her a lower-class girl instead? That would fit her occupation and suchlike and be way more likely. It would also be more original as there are way too many wealthy pretty-girls in the game. We need a few more uneducated, "real life" ones. Just a suggestion.

Anyway: Welcome again!

Edited. I practically changed most things about her.

Etcetera - March 29, 2007 08:12 AM (GMT)
She looks much better. I'll give you a thorough review tomorrow and let you know when it's done. Sorry for the delay.

Edit: Right. I got some more time on my hands today than expected (hurray! :)) So:

Good! Just a few questions:
QUOTE
At age 17 Heather moved out of her house and went to work at the bar in the local tavern.
Does this mean a tavern in the country (near her parents farmhouse) or one of the taverns in town? Is she still working there?
QUOTE
She visits her mother and father everyday second day.
I edited that to "every second day," (assuming it's just a spelling mistake) but if you had something else in mind you might want to change my edtis.
QUOTE
She has a lot of patience and is very good at settling down rough men who have had too much to drink.
You can definitely add "Patient" and "Good with people" (or males anyway) to your strengths then. Because of that (five strengths) It would be nice if you added a weakness or two to balance her out a bit.

Fix those things and you'll have my approval. :) Yay! Finally some more lower-class people! And (if you don't mind, that is) she can know Nora (my alcoholic prostitute chara ;))!

Heather Thatcher - March 30, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)
Ok edited those bits, and you were right it was meant to say every second day.

That would be nice if Heather new some one :D

Etcetera - April 2, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
Cool. You still didn't add one or two weaknesses though...?

I'll approve her as soon as you do. :)

Mjinga - April 4, 2007 05:32 PM (GMT)
Err... is this app still active?

Heather Thatcher - April 5, 2007 11:58 PM (GMT)
Yer I just have to add some weakness'

[EDIT] I am done now.

Etcetera - April 8, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
 Approved.

Mjinga - April 8, 2007 07:19 PM (GMT)
Sorry again it took so long for me to get on this.

I checked her over and I actually have no things I want changed, only two comments. :)

#1 The kind of bar-maid you will be here is not like the standard fantasy bar-maid where you'll get pinched and prodded and all those fantasy bar-maid things. The hookers in your establishment get all the male eyes, pretty much; and the hookers look down on you, too. I sent a PM with an upper-class bar-scene from the Victorian period to you; you'll be in a lower-class place but same general idea.

#2 The local tavern... there's more than one in Lindebo. :) Just so you know.

But absolutely no complaints with the charry, and love to have her on the board.

:mjinga: Approved.

Moving, locking, listing, all that jazz. You're good to post anywhere, although it's recommended that you join a thread instead of starting one.
