Personality:
Frustrated - Lysander can get fairly aggressive and upset because of his past and troubled family life; he gets frustrated, trying to figure out what went wrong and why. Now, he is confronted by bad dreams. He is almost afraid to go to sleep half the time, because of these dreams -- which accounts a trait for him being something of an insomniac/night owl. He keeps late hours and occupies himself with multiple things to keep his mind off it.

Reputation - Lysander is known within the theatre, though not necessarily completely well liked. He is not a bad person, but he is confident, strong, and knows what he wants. He has the ability to be romantic and charming. He is considered intelligent, and rather witty when he has the means to be; whether it's witty in a general way, or witty at someone else's expense (a nasty humor).

Desire for More - If there is anything Lysander craves, it is to one day have a lot of power, respect, and recognition. Because with recognition, brings respect, money and power. Still, there is part of him that doesn't want to be "heartless" per say while focusing on gaining such attributes; Lysander it not completely self-involved. He does help others, mostly those who befriend him in some way or become associates. It's more of a: I help you, so you help me - trait that Lysander goes through with other people. But he wants a change for the people, and intends to do what he has to in order to get it.

Ruthless - Lysander will do what he has to in order to stay afloat in this crumbling world. When not engaging in writing, ub hopping or sleeping, he is often out on his own, scouting or even stealing on occasion. He loves it, and considers it almost like a game. He doesn't have any personal ill against the other people, per say.... but he also wants to be on the winning team and if that means playing a bit dirty, Lysander won't fail to do so. When he sees something he wants, he'll go after it and do whatever is necessary to quell his passion for it.

Flirtatious - In terms of various relationships - Lysander is something of a veteran. He was ‘engaged’ briefly - but it only lasted for about a year, before he was ditching out on the girl. It hadn't sat well with him... the idea of waking up to one face for the rest of his life. So, he began a string of meaningless flings and fun. When he wants a shag -- he tends to get one - really, from whoever is available at the time. He's not prejudice or picky, and believes in fair chances. However, blow that chance, and you're screwed.

Childish - Despite his perhaps 'forgiving' air or look at times.... Lysander isn't in the least. He has been known to hold long grudges for very small and petty reasons. He can be rather childish in that aspect, and tends to pout and sulk when he doesn't get his way. Being on his bad side is NOT something you may wish to endure. But know this, and stay clear of such a thing. Those he 'hates' are few and far in between. This can also go hand in hand with his somewhat lack of responsibility and tendency to over exaggerate.

Intelligent - Despite not being responsible, Lysander is fairly smart; he passed through all his training and schooling with flying colors - he has a fair bit of knowledge about politics and the arts. He's quite disciplined when it comes to taking care of himself of course; body mind and soul. He reads often... he works out often, and makes time for himself to be alone when not running amuck.

Over-Protective - Lysander has a jealous streak and it's quite obvious when it's ugly head rears. Despite being a player, he wants to make sure those girls he befriends are watched over, and make the right choices (even if he isn't making them himself). Lysander can quite easily feel threatened when other males are introduced to the picture in terms of his female friends or shag buddies. When it comes to women, Lysander may disregard and bicker with you one moment... then jealousy hits… and you are still his.

Lone - Lysander is a bit secluded at times, and tends to be on his own more often than not. It's not that he doesn't like people, but because of his troubling and confusing family past.... he reflects a lot, and sometimes winds down into something of an angry depression -- he lashes out at others because of it. But catch him on a good day, and Lysander is rather tolerable. He is well spoken, and does his work. He, liked many others, are simply trying to scrape ahead in any way that they can.

History:
Lysander J. Wallace was born to Helene and Prior Wallace the II, in Manchester, England. The first ten years of his life were relatively normal in many ways; he was quiet, fun-loving, read books often and got good grades in the small schools and home taught lessons from his mother and father. His father and mother were both well off, and enthralled within England's high-class society. This was just barely enough to keep him from being ostracized at school. He was simply too bright: by the age of ten he was taking half of his classes at a higher level, and participating in the many, many english literature programs offered; apparently, there weren't enough programs to satisfy the performance lust in the boy. He was intelligent, literate, and artistically inclined; logic problems, physics, and circuitry all came easily to him - when presented in the textbook sense. Arts and culture were also natural - but when it came to a choice between Lawyer and Artist... Lysander went the way of art. Much to the disappointment of his parents.

As far as real-world applications ... well, ten-year-olds are generally possessed of a certain amount of innocence; Lysander was no exception. This might be part of the reason that he missed the warning signs of his parents’ relationship starting to crumble. Surely the fights weren't that bad; a marriage that had lasted fifteen years wouldn't decay overnight. Never mind the difference in background, in attitude, in opinion. Helen and Prior had been dealing with those things for years. The financial problems would pass, since both were wealthy, yet always desired more - from each other and the world. Every marriage had places of compromise, of disagreement. These were his parents: they would be all right, in his childhood view.

Except that they weren't. Even when the relationship had broken down sufficiently for Prior to insist on sending their son (Lysander) to London to live with his Aunt and Uncle, so that he'd be removed from the conflict -- and, should they decide on divorce (as they eventually would), from the household of Wallace.

Lysander blamed his increasing headaches, lack of sleep, and sickness on his stress over the school choice and his present schoolwork, or possibly an illness --- but not on his parents. Then again, all of those options were wrong. It was infact, the torrid relationship of his parents that caused such stress to their blooming young son, and eventually, failure, and a certain change in attitude. A ruthless drive began to grow in Lysander, and resentment towards his parents and what they'd done to his life.

He was shipped off to London to live with his Aunt Marian and Uncle Claudius, at the age of fifteen. Angry and embarrassed about his family and his parents, Lysander began to act out irrationally. He would get into trouble, skip his lessons, and loose interest in his art - drinking, smoking, and random sex came into more play to his life... which was highly unorthodox for the time, especially for a boy of his apparent class -- all of it designed to try and help him forget. He tried to drown himself in meaningless encounters and experiences. Lysander did what he wanted. As his eyes were opened to a new corrupt and wild world -- Lysander began to believe these were the golden years and they should be spent having fun, living dangerously, and surviving on organic highs instead of life's lows. His Uncle and Aunt could do nothing but sadly watch - they could not stop him.

One of the biggest social revolutions in Georgian London was a quiet one. It was the popularity of 'coffee houses' as a forum for business, entertainment, and social activity. The London coffee houses were immensely popular and certain houses became associated with different political viewpoints or kinds of commercial activity. Lysander immersed himself in such activities, becoming more active - but in more seedy ways. He attended speeches in the local city square, and supported any liberal movements. However, Lysander grew tired of this political game... he wanted more.

After leaving his aunt and uncle's house, and bumming around London for a year, most of what little money he had was gone.... and his Uncle and Aunt certainly weren't giving him any. What he couldn't afford, he stole. It was here, he met another man; Tybalt. And unbeknownst to Lysander, he was a thief, rebel, and political activist....spotting potential in Lysander, he began to speak of the infinite possibilities; power, experience, respect. At first, Lysander was skeptical. But still, it wasn't long before all this began to appeal to Lysander...and he agreed to become a disciple of Tybalt, who was at the time quite the classmen in a small London group who called themselves ‘The Young Republic’.

The two and their group went on various marches in the square; made speeches, held rallies and riots against the uprising government. Lysander was Tybalt’s wing man – his right hand, and writer. His overdubbed voice for their revolution. Lysander found himself being quite the aspiring young writer and poet, which made their town square speeches quite moving and liberating... engaging, to the public. Tybalt saw great potential in Lysander....and also something else. Something that made Tybalt cautious. Their movements saw quite a few riots and breakouts - and it was because of this strike of fortune that Tybalt, Lysander and the others gained enough stolen wealth and strength to survive a little while longer by themselves.

Though still a bit skeptical, and becoming less enthusiastic with Tybalt every day... Lysander followed along loyally. He had no choice. Tybalt was the unclaimed ‘leader’ of ‘The Young Republic’ and ergo, he figured he could do nothing. But Lysander realized how much control he had over Tybalt. He wrote the man his speeches, he got him more members, and Lysander was assuming more and more of a leader position. Hell, the other members of The Young Republic even liked him better. So ever so slowly, they began to faze Tybalt out… much to his anger and disappointment. And soon he had no choice but to leave. So Lysander assumed the leadership role of the Young Republic – and took them to even higher grounds of political activism against the government. But it wasn’t long before the authorities began to piece together that this group was no longer ignorable. They were a threat; they riled the people and got them talking and taking action against the government they didn’t really like.

So, the Inspectors and police came after The Young Republic – in attempts to silence them. Lysander and the other members of course had no intention of going to the gallow jails and rotting away. So they disappeared – each man went his separate way. Lysander found himself ending up in Lindeboshire; a nice spot that had plenty of nooks and crannies for him to hide in. Disappear. It didn’t take long for the aspiring and strong willed young man to get a job – in the local theatre, oddly enough. They hired him as an assistant writer, and onstage actor (should the need arise for an extra). Lysander took the job, convinced he could still be politically active… but in secret. He could now use this position to slip in his own political monologues into each play he had a hand in writing. It was theatre! One could get away with much more here. He found a flat above a dress maker’s shop down in the midst of the city, only a few blocks from the theatre. Lysander has established himself rather quickly here… he always was an adaptive and resourceful young man. Many had said so. It was quite a shift going from the son of a wealthy family, which would have provided him with a great place in high society – to the political outlaw and activist writer and poet that now lived in Lindeboshire.

Strengths: Intelligent, well educated, street-smart, passionate, artistic, talented, ruthless, determined, politically active, strong hearted.

Weaknesses: Something of a loner, mood swings, sarcastic, childish at times, can hold a grudge, stubborn, foolhearty

Uuu-keey! Welcome! I have a few comments. First of all:
QUOTE
and participating in the many, many arts programs offered
There would not be many (in fact not any) arts programs for males in the Victorian school system. Mebbe have him focus on English in stead, since he later turns out a writer?

What kind of political views did he have - will they be relevant to the story at all? I'd like you to put in something about them if they will.

Ok I fixed the arts thing...

But his political views only have to due with his character development and life story -- I doubt they'll come to play any significant part in the overall board plot. Just for Lysander personally - he may have a close brush with the law every now and then (more or less my character Gabriel).... but that's it. So I don't really have anything else to describe since his bio is fairly lengthy as it is. I state that he's part of a republic group that attempts to engage the people to see the problems with their government; a higharchy, obviously, with a queen/king - ergo, he's more democratic, for a people's government, etc.
