Title: Victoria Kensington
Description: Servant Girl

Vintage Requiem - November 10, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
Name: Victoria Elizabeth Marie Kensington

Avatar: Diane Krueger

Occupation: Servant Girl

Age: Twenty years old

Gender: Female

Appearance: Victoria is not very tall, but neither is she on the short side, she stands at the height of five feet tall and five inches. Her hair reaches the small of her back and wavy golden thick locks like a waterfall of sunshine. Typically, she pulls it up into a loose bun when she is working as a servant girl, anything to keep it out of her face, the majority of it anyway. Victoria dresses rather plainly, a definite sign of her low income and lower ranking in society. A dark sage green cloak, given to her by her father, covers the plain attire beneath and making her stunning blue eyes stand out more and turn slightly greener like the emerald grass. With those she has been known to wear slippers or boots, both wore and smoke grey in colour. Her skin is somewhat fair in colour with a tint of olive, both from working outside and inside the house with daily chores. She is slender with long and fit legs like a runner. She is a working girl who has never had it easy, nor lived the life of the people that she works for, so for her young age, she has much knowledge of the home life and how to live off of the land, that she can do.

Personality:
Quiet as the dove. Victoria is not a loud person, she very much keeps to herself and knows her place in society. Women in the lower levels of the world are not to be seen or heard, which she has grown accustomed to. Her voice, naturally, is soft and accented with that of an English woman. She wants to say more, and she has a lot to say, but Victoria would not day risk getting struck or scolded for speaking when she is not supposed to. As a child she was to learn her place in life and not be called out. If she has any hope of making a living, she must do as she is told and perform her tasks promptly, like any dutiful servant.

A voice of the birds. Since she was a girl, singing was a passion all her own. She use to sing to her little siblings when they were ill, or even to quiet a child frightened of the dark. As a governess at one point in her life—a nanny, in other words—she would sing tot he little ones, especially the babes to help them on the journey to sleep. If she had enough money, Victoria would sing more and more, quitting her job and devoting her life to music and singing. Unfortunately, not everyone is born wealthy, and that applies to her as well.

Determined to be herself. If anything, Victoria is stubborn and determined to do her best at anything she does, whether it being stitching a patch or singing a song before an audience. She is stubborn, and hardheaded, not wanting people to help her or accept aid when it is offered. She is strong, and she wants to be even stronger, perhaps stronger than she really is. A servant is not suppose to ask for help, nor expect it. Victoria hardly feels noticed, why on earth would she expect to receive help from anyone? She doesn’t, and does not set herself up for such disappoint. She is content with life. Victoria could not ask for more, nor dare to. Victoria will not stand to be abused though, and if someone wrongs her, she would certainly give a tongue lashing. Sometimes, her tongue can get her into trouble, and at times beaten.

Passionate and Loving. Taking care in her work, Victoria devotes her full attention to it and everyone she is with. A motherly touch she has, but she can easily turn it off. She loves to be in nature and outside in the sun. She rather be in the gardens and on the farms rather than be stuck inside in the stale air. Unfortunately, she does not have that chance often, if at all. Vitoria puts thought into her words, and is care what she says, minding that it dies not sound what she would not mean it to be. She takes care to tread softly and stay out of other people’s way. She has a big heart, and learned the hard way not to wear it on her sleeve.

Loyal with the utmost respect. She was raised by loving parents, yet both had a common teaching: being respectful to anyone was drilled into her all her life. After a while, she got a bit tired of hearing them nag for it, but it was not unheard or unheeded information. It is important to be respectful toward others, even though some of them might not return the favor. That is what a lady servant is, respectful in every way. To her friends, she will never let them down. Well, she tries not to. Those who have gained her trust and respect are given her loyalty and trust. Yes, people have to gain her trust and respect, she will not hand it out on a silver platter.

History: Born in Dublin Ireland, Victoria Elizabeth Marie was born into the world by two happy people, Margaret and Kenneth Kensington. Both loving parents from the start, despite them being poor. She was the first child of the couple, and there is no doubt denying the jewel of their eyes. Later, when Victoria turned thirteen, the Kensington family packed their belongings and moved from their old home in Dublin to London. There, they not only moved into a nicer location, but they managed to purchase a slightly better house. Being the oldest child of two was not something easy, especially for Victoria. It very difficult, at least that was her feeling of it. Her parents, especially her father, watched her like a hawk. She was under the wing constantly. Victoria’s mother constantly taught her the rules of being a lady and a servant, home chores and skills that any servant was suppose to know. Those was a common war zone in the family. Victoria wanted to make friends and meet others, however, her father thought different. When she turned fourteen, Victoria and the rest of the Kensington family welcomed their newest edition to the family. Her name was Allison Francesca Alana. Finally, the light was taken off of her and placed on her little sister. It was a sad thing to see her little sister to be the apple of the tree, but Victoria was glad that the lime light was off of her. But Victoria still helped raise Allison, taking care of her when she was but an infant.

One day, her father brought a young man to the house. She did not know who she was, but already she was having a bad feeling about it. Most women were already married or about to. Victoria was dreading the news that her father was going to bring her. The man’s name was Anthony Langston. She could not say anything but hello to the man and curtsy politely. Her father had betrothed them. Already! Victoria hardly knew the man, save for the fact that he had to be at least twice her age. Money. That was the only reason that she saw as to why her parents has put her up to this, so they could gain some sort of wealth. Every girl dreamed of meeting their true love someday and running away with them. However, those were simply dreams, and now her nightmare was becoming a reality. He was not a bad man, but she just could not find herself loving him truly. He was tall, rather handsome, and very intelligent. One thing that had a flaw in was his manners. Women were property to him, and a prize. Yes, he respected her, but she could not help feel as if he was showing her off now and then. It did not matter though. Unable to stand it anymore, Victoria ran away from home, not wanting to marry such a pig. She stole away on a cart heading to the city of Lindebo, located in the county of Lindeboshire. Since then, she has been living a new life on her own since the age of seventeen, making her way through life as best as she can.

Hiya! Nice to have another charry! I've got just a few questions that I'd want explained about her...

Maid was a full-time, usually live-in job. You wouldn't have time to be a singer as well. Certainly not in the theatre. You should pick one or the other.

QUOTE
A dark sage green velvet cloak
There's absolutely no way you could afford to own that. As a singer you could, but not as a maid. You wouldn't wear it even if you could, because you'd wear livery, and live in your employer's house.

QUOTE
She rather do the chores in the gardens and on the farms rather than be stuck inside in the stale air.
A maid was by definition an in-house servant. She would be stuck inside anyway. A farmhand would work on the farm, which you could be, if you wanted.

Was she born in Canterbury or in Dublin?

QUOTE
The man’s name was Anthony Langston. He was a wealthy land owner.
If her parents are dead poor and so is she, how are they arranging this very advantageous marriage? And if it was to remain wealthy, as you say, when did they get wealthy? It's not explained, and the last I saw was that they were über-poor.

QUOTE
Equestrian
Basic fencing
Two of your strengths are upper-class skills. If you're poor you not only wouldn't know them, but wouldn't have the time to learn them, either. Also, fencing is not a woman's pastime usually.

QUOTE
Physical strength
How is that a weakness? It's acceptable to be strong, since maids often were, but please clarify how being strong is a weakness as opposed to a strength.

But nice job! I'm looking forward to seeing her in RP! Can't wait to approve her. :)

Vintage Requiem - November 10, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
Fixed! All except the Equestrian part.

She's not a girl to be in a competition of course, by this I meant that she could ride a horse and knew how to take acre of them, no show. Horse riding is not just an upper society thing, especially for a girl from Ireland. Hope this clears something up :)

Not sure how to edit the title thingy at the top, my friend gave me this site address, so I don't have a clue as how to work this thing, haha, and I don't think he does either

Approved.

You need one more approval before you can post. Welcome to the site!

Ok, works for me. I'll only ask two things before I approve you, to apply when you start RP.

#1 If you want to work for a wealthy person already on the board (I encourage this, the candidates are the Right Honourable the Lady Lindeboshire, the Right Honourable the Lord Lindeboshire, the Right Honourable the Lord Wothersham, the Honourable Emma Willard, and Ms. Elizabeth Jamesson ;) ) you need to contact your prospective employer beforehand.
#2 If you don't want to work for a PC, then your NPC employer should be a wealthy person but not titled.

And I am now happy to approve your charry. :mjinga:

I'll switch your account over and and you can start rp anytime. If you'd like a sig but don't have one readily available, I'd be more than happy to make one for you. Just fire off a Pm and let me know. :)

Edit: and I edited the title for you. :) It's done by editing the first post and changing it in the title line that appears (it only appears when you edit the first post of a topic).
