Title: *rolls up her sleeves*
Description: Fresh thread plotting
Abiatha Nettles - June 12, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
Alrighty, I'm ready to RP... ish. Exams in a week... which'll last a week. So I may be slow, depending on how my last hour studies go XP But I should be able to post once a day or once every two days, at least until the 23rd (when said exams start).
And basically, I'm just impatient
Now, I've heard something about a certain Mr. Pryer? ;) Consider this the PM I was too shy to pester and poke you with!
And of course an invitation to anyone and everyone else, so long as they could stand obnoxious Abby (CS link in the sig, for curious eyes).
Haven't posted a thread yet, or joined one... Depending on where it would be most convenient for the *coughbravecough* fellow RPer, I'm pretty sure I can start one tomorrow. Just need to know the location ^.^

Dr. Victor Morton - June 12, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Hey Cora! :D
Well, Victor needs a maid to help him with the house and a little nursing too, if you're interested?
And good luck with the exams! ;)
Abiatha Nettles - June 12, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
Thank you! X.x It's needed.
And yesh, Abby would jump at any chance at working, or just stand on her own feet financially... if being able to afford bread can be called that XP
Anna Sutcliffe - June 12, 2008 10:35 PM (GMT)
I have to ask, Aida: Did you get your av/sig pics from the same film I got mine?
Cora, we're pretty laid back, so no stress from us. :) Pryer runs various charities (including a hospital, Doc, in case you ever decide that Morton can't make it in private practice ;) ) and it might be possible for her to be at one of them? He keeps his neb clean of any public knowledge that he runs them, but he does visit them posing as a larking gentry-type, so there's possibilities for them to meet.
Abiatha Nettles - June 12, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
Oooh So get her sick and such? Hospital's cheap towards free of charge, right? She could get in that way... After walking for so long to reach the city, she'd need at least a bit of patching back up >.>
And teh Doc. could be looking for a nurse among hospital staff, right? And Abby'd be all jumpy, if none of the nurses would have the time to work in two places...
Or... how else could all 3 meet? I sometimes think too much X.x Or too little.
Dr. Victor Morton - June 12, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen that movie actually! :D
But I know two of the pics are from a Sherlock Holmes movie!
That works for me, Cora! Or the Doc could work in the hospital for some time and get to know her, then he can suggest the maid thingy to her, or she to him! Whichever you like! B)
Mjinga - June 13, 2008 05:55 PM (GMT)
I'm game either way! Just let me know, cause, heh, Pryer ought to know who's working in his hospitals. :P
One of you want to start it, then? I suck at starting threads. Sowweh!
Abiatha Nettles - June 13, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
Ah, decisions decisions!
About the thread starting, we should throw a coin  Unless Aida has little time on her hands; in which case, I'll start it *nods*
Either way, I'm pretty sure how to get Abby active and about in that place... She'd go exploring the hospital, dead curious and sneaky-like and... careless :P Perfect opportunity to meet either/both charries, and whomever else would join.
Dr. Victor Morton - June 13, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
You start the thread then if you like, Cora! :D
Liz, I will send Victor to the hospital to find a job or if you agree we can say he has been already working there, say for a day or two?
We can also start with him speaking with Mr. Pryer about the hospital's condition and such, maybe.
We are speaking about the Halfax Charity Hospital, right? If so, can you please give me a little description of its condition? ;)
Abiatha Nettles - June 13, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
Alright, I'll start it XP
And another question for Liz (sowwy!), but is the hospital well known? Are there adverts about it posted in places? Or would Abby just be brought there by a kind anonymous person? This one seems more plausible, I have to say... Reading is tiering for her :P
Mjinga - June 13, 2008 06:59 PM (GMT)
Kk! He can have worked there for a bit, and yes, it's the Halfax Charity Hospital. However, he'd have been hired by the hospital administrator, not by Mr Pryer. If he talks to Mr Pryer today, Mr Pryer is posing as an "interested party" in the hospital. Thinking about donating to it, that sort of thing. The Doc wouldn't know that Pryer's the founder and chief supporter.
The condition of the hospital is this: It's an old building, so it has an old-building look to it. However, it's been repainted inside, any problems have been fixed, &c &c, so it's in excellent repair. The decor is very spartan and monochrome, and privacy is guaranteed by large white curtains shielding the beds. It's kept scrupulously clean, because Pryer's a big believer in Ignaz Semmelweis and his theories and thus he's chosen administrators who are as well. There are separate wards for different conditions, so contagion is kept to a minimum. The biggest wards are probably the TB ward and the maternity ward. People are not left to lay dead in the beds, 2-3 hours for inquiry at the most, then they're moved to a morgue, so there's not a huge dead-body smell. Beds are checked every hour on the hour, there are plenty of funds for nurses, so the hospital is not understaffed, but people must work hard all the same. Every bed is full, and there are always people waiting to get in (that's just how it is :/). Depending which ward he works, the Doc will be dealing with different kinds of dieseases... as a qualified surgeon, he might be doing more of that kind of work?
Um.. not sure if that was helpful. Need any more info?
Mjinga - June 13, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
Sorry, didn't see your question at first, Abby. Yes, it's well known by word of mouth in the lower classes, because it charges little to nothing, depending on what people can afford.
Also, your sig can be centered with the align=center and /align tags. :)
Abiatha Nettles - June 13, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
haha Ok
And that dun work! Meep >.> Or... *tries again*
Edit:  It worked! Thank you, Liz  Even google had failed meh with figuring that out...
Dr. Victor Morton - June 13, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Thank you, Liz! Exactly what I wanted to know! :)
And Victor is a fan of Ignaz Semmelweis too, so I believe he will like the hospital a lot. ;)
He will surely do some surgery work there if needed, and he might even work night shifts in the beginning when he needs more money.
Mjinga - June 13, 2008 07:16 PM (GMT)
Sweet!
And you're welcome, Cora.
Etcetera - June 13, 2008 07:23 PM (GMT)
*Is looking forward to reading this thread*
Abiatha Nettles - June 14, 2008 01:26 PM (GMT)
Mwaha
It's up and about >.>
Dr. Victor Morton - June 14, 2008 01:35 PM (GMT)
Should I post next or will you post, Liz? :D
Mjinga - June 14, 2008 03:32 PM (GMT)
You can have a go at it. :)
Fantastic post, Cora!
Abiatha Nettles - June 14, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
Thank you, but it comes undeserved! I forgot to add so much x.X No description of her, few details of essence... Bah. So feel free to improvise when posting.
But thank you! :D
Mjinga - June 29, 2008 06:38 PM (GMT)
*pokeths both of you*
Are y'all still here?
Abiatha Nettles - June 29, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)
Exaaaams >.< Finishing Saturday. So sorry! I should have posted x.X
If I pass, I'll post as soon as the results are in. If I don't, good bye cruel world XD I'd be banned from the comp for evah and evah.
Victor Morton - June 29, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)
Mjinga - June 29, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
OOoo! Sorry! I didn't mean to sound pressure-y. :)
If you don't pass your maths exams, I volunteer to tutor you for free. I was, honest to God, a math tutor and substitute teacher for the last three years and three of my undergrad as well. :) Occourse, you'd need the computer for me to tutor you... *smile nod & wink*
Abiatha Nettles - June 30, 2008 09:04 AM (GMT)
haha Thank you for the offer! But no, no maths for me XD
Literature Oral, which I got an A at, French oral, another A, then Literature written, which I'm worried about, and then Tuesday is History, Wed is English (foreign language, that is), and Thursday is Psychology... which is awfully hard x.X
[trembles]
You two feel free to walk around the hospital talking if you like, with Abby walking as well ahead of them or something! *nods*
Mjinga - June 30, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
English (foreign language)? ... like, as in, English is not your first language?
*tremble* I had assumed it was...
I am content to wait, btw, unless Aida would like to go on? I'll leave it up to her. :)
Victor Morton - June 30, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
I'll wait too! :D
Good luck with the exams, Cora! ;)
Abiatha Nettles - July 1, 2008 11:23 AM (GMT)
Thank you! :D Two more to go... >.>
Abiatha Nettles - July 5, 2008 01:19 PM (GMT)
And with the risk of double posting: I passed!!! :D
Shall start writing a post right away ;)
Victor Morton - July 5, 2008 03:57 PM (GMT)
Congratulations!!! :D
I'll post soon after!
Abiatha Nettles - August 9, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
>.>
<.<
*ish impatient*
May Aida and I start a continuation thread until Liz has more time, pweeese? :D I know we can't be in more than one thread at once, but I for one don't have enough concentration to get alts, and I want to RP more here too @.@
Victor Morton - August 10, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
I'd also like to RP more with Victor and see him settled a bit. :)
If Liz agrees, I wouldn't mind a continuation thread.
Mjinga - August 10, 2008 09:15 PM (GMT)
Oh, I'm so terribly sorry. I missed this.
You actually can be in two threads at once, as long as one is clearly before the other in time (and stated in a short OOC note at the top or in this forum), and don't use information from the future one in the past one. :) I am perfectly fine with you guys starting a continuation thread, and you could make any reasonable conclusion that you want regarding Pryer from this one, if you need to.
I must profusely apologise for my absence. I do have a good excuse for it, but absolutely no excuse for not saying anything here. I am most truly sorry.
Just so you guys don't think I've been bored by our thread or anything, I've been having a lot of major dental work done the last bit (and one of them left a bit of his tool in my teeth! the fucking bastard!) and I'm not feeling so well from it, as well as trying to set up grad school stuff (study hard in college, people, so that you don't run into problems later) and assorted other disturbances-- for example, I had to evacuate the house because of a brushfire recently (back now, there was no damage :) ).
But I should have said it before and I'm sorry for holding you guys up. Please fell free to start a continuation thread.
Abiatha Nettles - August 11, 2008 08:28 AM (GMT)
:o Ouch...
I'm having toothache these days, and it's killing me >.< But I'm too chicken to go to a dentist...
I feel so sorry, Liz =/ Bah. Hit him in the head with somethin! Effin sadist...
And I'm sorry for... all the other stuff >.< *hugs* It's alright if you didn't post, there was obviously something wrong anyway. RL comes first, especially with pain and fires and bureaucracy...
For the thread, we talked and considered Vic would agree to taking Abby in, to work - perhaps with encouragement from Pryer, if he would encourage that - after she'd have lied about actually knowing how to keep house and cook and having some medical knowledge from an uncle xP And she'd agree to a small pay, reluctantly and shamefully asking that she'd be also taught better reading, writing and maths.
If there's something that doesn't fit or that you don't see happening.... :P
Abiatha Nettles - August 15, 2008 03:45 PM (GMT)
Ok,
thread is posted, with a link in the first few words to the thread before it.
Hope all the details are alright >.>
