Title: Need a doctor?

Nathaniel Bulmer - June 15, 2008 06:26 AM (GMT)
Okay, so maybe I'm jumping the gun a little bit, so to speak, since Nathaniel hasn't actually been accepted yet. But, I'm going to keep editing him until he is accepted regardless, because this is an awesome site that I can't wait to join. So, with that in mind, I'm posting here looking for people who might want to thread with me. ^^

Options include, but are by no means limited to:

- People he comes to see (he makes house calls)

- Visitors to his house (rare at best)

- People he knew in the past (possibly who knew him before he went to the insane asylum)

Also, Nathaniel is in need of a housekeeper. Any age; just no kids. Whomever it is has to have pretty strong nerves to put up with Nathaniel for any length of time (you'll know what I mean if you take a look at his profile).

Or, just regular people to thread with him. I'd like Nathaniel to have one old friend (around his age; not too much younger, but older is fine) who has known him for a while and with whom he's not so uptight. It's just nice to start with.

So there we have it. Again, sorry if I'm jumping the gun a little, but if it's bad for me to post this now, feel free to lock/delete it or whatever and I'll start plotting after my character has actually been accepted.

Insane asylum!? Methinks I had better go read his profile!

The links to me charries are in my sig, if you want to pick one for a friend, we can talk about it. :)

Charlotte will be needing a doctor in not too long... She'll probably use Dr. Bulmer when she does, if you're up for that. :)

Charlotte: Yeah, absolutely. Nathaniel's first patient, eh? ^^

Mjinga: You have so many awesome characters, I don't know which to pick... o.0 I mean, I can see him meeting any number of them at one point or another, but as for actual plot ideas... Nothing's coming to mind at the moment. Charles, Haverhill, Jean-Luc, Nils, and Nolan are old enough to have met him and actually made some kind of relationship other than just business. I don't know how any of them would fit with him though.

Well… let’s face it, Doc Bulmer’s a little bit dodgy, isn't he? So how well is anyone gonna fit with him? But of the people named… Charles was in London and then Lindebo to have a friendship, Haverhill was not, Jean-Luc was in such a position for seventeen years, Nils was not, and Nolan was not really unless you want it to be a friendship forged after Nathaniel’s arrival in Lindebo.

Sooo, that narrows it to Charles, Jean-Luc, and Nolan… and of these: Charles is much higher in status, but that doesn’t matter a great deal to him in his personal friendships, being a very progressive sort of guy. Jean-Luc doesn’t have many friends, but I did specify that he has a couple that he very much likes, so perhaps Nathaniel can be one of them?—and Jean-Luc is a little bit on the odd side himself, so he probably wouldn’t have any issue with Nathaniel’s peculiarities. Nolan is a very friendly sort of person, but very much from below the Doc’s class… he cannot even read; would it be likely that Nathaniel would have a such a friend (asking, not sarcasm :) )?

Well, that depends on how you're using the word "dodgy." He doesn't do anything illegal, of course, but there are rumors floating around about him, yeah. ^^;;

Let's see, you left Charles, Jean-Luc, and Nolan.

Well, as far as station, Nathaniel is from a pretty well-off family and has a decent (although not extreme) amount of money. He used to care a little about his status and whatnot, but after the whole asylum ordeal he figures there really isn't much worse that can happen to his reputation, and doesn't hesitate to associate with people who are "lower" in status (like Nolan). Of course, he'd have to meet him in the first place, and it's not very likely that they'd meet at a party or something, I don't think.

Nathaniel would fit in well with Charles, I think. Both have rather standoffish personalities, which after a few verbal tussles might make for mutual respect. Both are intelligent and willing to learn more, so there's a starting point at least. Plus Charles isn't too much younger than Nathaniel.

As for Jean-Luc... Nathaniel might have met him during the brief period when he used to go to bars fairly often, and the friendship sort of struck up during their occasional meetings at funeral homes (because Nathaniel is curteous enough to attend the funeral of his more frequent patients).

Overall, I think Charles is most likely for a real friendship in the usual sense of the word, followed by Nolan (who could deal with Nathaniel's forceful personality). Maybe both would work. *shrug*

Allright, lets say that Charles was Nathaniel's patient first, never listened to him ever about his health, but they did in fact hit it off fairly well, so they're friends. Yes? From back in their London days... and they just picked it back up in Lindebo.

Nathaniel Bulmer - June 19, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
That works for me. ^^ I can imagine the arguments that would ensue if Charles didn't listen to him. Now I just need a thread to join/time to add another thread to the list of those I already have to reply to. >.<
