Name: Father Jeremiah Watkins

Avatar: William Christopher

Occupation: Priest

Age: 39

Gender: Male

Appearance: Brown haired and green-eyed, Father Watkins is 5’7”, 159lb, and built lightly with the body of a runner. He wears wire-frame glasses and generally wears his priestly clothing. Of course, when he is at home he tends to wear something very conservative. His face shifts very easily between kindly provider and stern parent. He also wears a silver cross on a silver cross and is often seen, at least in church, carrying a bible.

Personality:
Father Watkins is typical of what you’d expect of a religious figure of the Victorian era. He is a stern, almost brutal enforcer of his faith. Though there are several points of hypocrisy within him, he can always dredge up some sort of suitably spiritual explanation for his actions. Father Watkins is the type who believes that all sins must be paid for and his definition of sin is broad and all-encompassing. Among the things he despises are members of any different religious group, homosexuals, and anyone he judges to be living in sin. He is especially stern on the subject of sex, which he considers a shameful act. Sex is an act that must be performed to procreate, he states. But it must be done quickly and efficiently without regard for pleasure and then both parties must ask forgiveness of the church after. Father Watkins is a definite fan of the ‘wham, bam, repent ma’am’ approach…

History:
As the child of a street whore who abandoned him in a trash can, Jeremiah found it easy to hate the world early on. He was put into an orphanage where he remained alone for some time. He was not a particularly handsome boy and many others were in orphanage too, resulting in Jeremiah’s prolonged stay. Eventually though, a priest who was just passing through took pity on Jeremiah and rescued him from the orphanage, bringing him into the church as an altar boy. Jeremiah came to look on his early life as punishment for his mother’s sin and his coming to the church as proof that God was watching over him and knew that he would never follow his mother’s, and presumably his father’s, path into sin. And so Jeremiah determined that the wise and benevolent God would have a loyal servant. The altar boy grew into a man and eventually joined the priest hood, taking the name Father Watkins. His real name was long forgotten in the records of the church. Jeremiah had been the name that the priest had given him when he became an altar boy. Because of his childhood, Jeremiah developed a rather stern doctrine towards both children and procreation. Children who had families were sternly lectured to be respectful of their parents, who sacrificed for their children to procreate and then provided for the same. Children of the orphanage were those whom Jeremiah was most forgiving of. He believed that it was his duty as the patron of a benevolent God to choose those children who were worthy servants of God and raise them out of the orphanage as he had been raised up. They would become altar boys and the servants of the church as had he. As for procreation, Father Watkins was especially stern on this point and particularly condemned prostitution, though not the act of using a prostitute, interestingly enough.
