Title: SOMEONE BE A FUCKING FULL TIME CASHIER AT PETSMART
Syaoransbear - November 9, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
My store manager is being a dick. He's hiring new people for petcare, which is the department that eveyone knows that I want to get into. I asked him if I could switch into it and he said not unless I can find a full time cashier.
So someone go apply for full time cashier at petsmart. You get 8.60 an hour or something. Do eeet.

I couldn't work full time but I am desperate to work at a pet store :(
Hey_Ban - November 9, 2007 11:58 PM (GMT)
Nah, I'm almost certain to get this job at CNH which pays about $14/hr starting
Ps, quit then reapply for petcare

Can't:
1.) Allergies
2.) Canada is too far
3.) Already have a job as a teller at a bank
melie - November 10, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
I uh..have a job. And don't live in canada.

wtf that's not your responsibility to get people to apply at his store.. obviously there would be full time cashiers if he would put the new people on cash instead of other departments.

Yeah he's being a douchebag. Cash is way easier to learn than petcare is.
QueenieKai - November 11, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Cash is also one of the most important assets of the business. He wouldn't put you on cash if he didn't think you had a brain, and he's probably keeping you there because he knows that you have a brain.
Syaoransbear - November 11, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Cash is important, but it really is brainless after you know what buttons to press. You can zone out for hours because you say the exact same thing to everyone.
Hi
Do you have a pet perks card?
*total*
Receipt in the bag?
Have a nice day.
He's only keeping me there because I'm one of the few full time cashiers. Cashiers are used for everything, so they like to have a lot on everyday. Cashiers stock, receive, face, price, and in my case, get thrown into petcare when they are under staffed. Petcare takes so much more knowledge because people ask questions all the time. Plus you have to take care of all the animals there and medicate the sick ones. Like with the reptiles, you have to know how to get the syringe in their mouth without breaking their jaw. I used to have to force feed my snakes mice, and it's pretty hard.
The days when they stick me in petcare are definitely my favorite. The days where I get stuck on cash all day really just make me want to shoot myself in the head. I'm going there today to talk to Jacey(manager of petcare) and adam(store manager) about moving into petcare. Jacey completely supports me and is going to try to convince adam. Plus she owes me, I tamed their most expensive bird there ($1000) ;)

I'm pretty sure with labour shortages how they are, threatening to quit is actually a viable bargaining strategy.

You have a job?
Oh and Sy- don't listen to Cheamo. Threatening to quit is never appreciated.
Cheamo - November 12, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
Um, well obviously management already doesn't respect their employees, even though they already can't hire even nearly enough people.
Danielle - November 12, 2007 01:06 AM (GMT)
Threatening to quit always works... especially now, right by christmas too!
QueenieKai - November 12, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
Depends on what you work as. I'm pretty sure McDonald's wouldn't care if you threatened to quit.
Also, don't expect a good recommendation letter if you threaten to quit.
Sy- If you want to take care of pets, don't just be a "petcare personnel". You're smart. Go to vet school and become vet.
Danielle - November 12, 2007 02:42 AM (GMT)
That's where you are SOOOO wrong, Queenie! McDonalds is so desperate for staff right now, they said they'd take me back and promote me to manager. Of all people!
You shouldn't just make that assumption that a shitty job doesn't need people. You don't live around here.

Yeah that's sort of the plan but I'm taking a year to piss around.

Was I talking about McDonald's JUST in your area? No.
You oughtn't make assumptions that everyone only thinks about Canada night and day. Some of us actually think and concern ourselves with the rest of the world too.
And obviously, shitty jobs need people, otherwise we wouldn't have illegal immigrants.

I'm sorry, but we are talking about Canada right now, Saskatoon specifically, that's where Shauna works afterall.
