Bad news for the goal starved Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs, as the Chicago Black Hawks have dipped into the UFA market and signed speedy winger "Peter Bondra" to a new contract:
Spector's Hockey:
BLACKHAWKS SIGN PETER BONDRA.
THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS ANNOUNCED TODAY THE SIGNING OF UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT WINGER PETER BONDRA. FINANCIAL TERMS WEREN'T DISCLOSED.
Personally, I think that Bondra would have looked real good with Mats and that he would have scored a bunch of goals playing alongside of # 13.
Too late now............

Additional information - Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but rumour has it that he signed a 1 year deal for $500K + or - bonuses.
Dale Tallon had the following to say:
"He's a proven goal scorer," said Blackhawks general manager Dale Tallon. "He's a tremendously fit athlete who will add more speed and skill to our lineup. He will help our power play and his experience will greatly help our younger players."
Bondra is a young 38 years of age and is just 2 goals shy of reaching the special plateau of the 500 GOAL CLUB. Bondra's career statistics speak for themselves:
498 Goals,
380 Assists,
1,044 Regular Season Games. :)
Funny, I would have guessed he would want to sign with a contender and go out on top. Oh well, at least he gets to wear one of the nicest jersey's in the NHL :P
