Title: Pink Quill - Tillandsia Cyanea
sollyhouse - May 10, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)
One of these plants were going cheap at our local B&Q they are normally £4.50 but this one was going for a pound - the only thing I could see wrong with the plant was that the Quill was pointing to one side, today a week after buying the plant it has produced a flower on the Quill so I am well pleased B) but my question is that the plant is in a very small pot (3") should I risk repotting it now, or just let it grow? I am worried that when the pups come they wont have any growing room - Thank you for any help that you can give.

That's a beautiful plant! I'd re-pot it if I were you. :)

A very pretty plant you have there! I agree, with Petal, re-pot it and if it does go wrong, then, well you can always buy another one! :P:

I took your advice Rose and now its dead !!!
Just kidding :) repotted it over the weekend and the first flower died, but tonight a new flower has come, they say that you will get 1 -2 flowers on the Quill at any one time and the flowers will last 2 - 3 days and should carry on flowering for about 3 months after which time the Quill may die, but after that you should get little puppie plants growing at the base of the plant (just what I have read, not got to that stage yet)
If you get a chance a buy this plant...........you wont be dissapointed just remember to mist the plant every other day and water it ever 7 - 10 days or so. (mist the soil as well when you are misting the plant) it's my first Pink Quill plant so I only know what I have read to look after it...............but so far so good :)

I always go straight to the reduced section in B&Q. They almost always have real bargains there for the taking. Generally they only need a little TLC. i got a bonsai tree for £2.50 a few months ago. Gave it a water when I got home and within a few days it looked fantastic!
